Walk to Work Routes

Look out for route leaders and join them in solidarity to walk to work on Monday.  The walkers will begin early with the aim of being in the city before 9:00 am, so be on the main roads from these locations as early as 7:30 am. Please let us know if you would like to lead a route.  Thanks! 

The Ground Rules: 
  • Peaceful, peaceful, peaceful
  • No provocation
  • Do not be provoked
  • Keep your actions lawful and orderly
  • Do not attract unnecessary attention to yourself
  • Obey any lawful instructions from the Police except any attempt to stop you from walking to work!
  • Enjoy yourself, share experiences with other walkers,
  • Tell your story on Facebook, Twitter and update it as often as possible
  • If you need legal help or first aid call ask any of the route leaders to help.  The legal team is headed by Abdu Katuntu

  1. It sounds organised. I will look out for the group with Hon. Katuntu. I hope this can be done weekly untill the government reduces taxes on fuel that translate to reductions at the pump. This means food prices drop, taxi fares drop. etc. JRK

  2. Now this is real active non violence (ANV). I am far from Uganda but was always praying that you guys start such ANV activities. Remember they have to be recurrent if not sustained. You need to popularize the documentary a force more powerful, let people buy it. It shows how active non violence worked in chile, the philippines india etc..

  3. Yes, now this will work! Non-violence is the way. Remember non violence needs discipline. Let no one provoke you to react violently. More so I propose civil disobedience...non cooperation with an oppressive government. Why should the citizens be crushed whenever they attempt to show the government that their expectations have not been met. Get this word out to everyone and let's do it the non-violent way. Time has come for us to hold our leaders accountable...this is a Ugandan problem, an African problem.
